Ian Noble
Ian is the Mondelez R&D VP for Research & Analytical Sciences and the Net Zero lead within R&D, accountable for the scientific research agenda together with product measurement capabilities from labs to plants. He is a member of the R&D Leadership Team and reports directly to the Chief R&D Officer.
Since gaining his PhD, Ian has worked for 30 years across the breadth of FMCG R&D from background science to Business Unit and Regional leadership, productivity, strategy, breakthrough innovation and corporate ventures for Unilever, PepsiCo and latterly Mondelez in countries across Europe, Asia and North America.
Since joining Mondelez in 2016 he has led the creation of pioneering technical capabilities and products across all of our product categories. Delivering core renovations and breakthrough innovations including laser etching and 3D printing through to Chocobakery innovation and the renovation of our Milka and Caramilk chocolate ranges, together with resetting productivity. He is currently transforming our R&D breakthrough innovation funnel and is building a stronger technical capability through Mondelez’s Technical Leadership Council. Leveraging external technical capabilities is a passion and he has grown engagement with the AgFood Tech venture space including setting up the Mondelez Accelerator programme: Colab Tech, and is the R&D lead for our Corporate Venture Group: Snack Futures.
Ian is frequently invited to present at external international forums across topics including Food Science, Engineering and Food Systems and to join expert working groups. He is an active Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (DE&I and Innovation) and the Institute of Chemical Engineers, an Academician of the International Union of Food Science & Technology, and a visiting Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham UK. His commitment to giving back includes trustee positions with two scientific charities in support of early career engineers and the provision of high quality curated scientific publications world-wide, together with supporting doctoral training for the Food & Drink Sector in the UK.
